Pipefitter

Must be able to obtain DBIDS.

  • MUST BE ABLE TO BRAZE.

Currently looking for a skilled Pipefitter to fill a temporary opening with a shipyard located in Norfolk, VA. Interested candidates must be able to braze and have successfully completed a 4 or 5 year apprenticeship that includes on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

Responsibilities of the Pipefitter/Pipe Fitter

  • Receive instructions, blueprints, and work orders for the job, sets up working procedures.
  • List scaffolding and other equipment required.
  • Calculate dimensions and material requirements for piping system(s).
  • Plan and schedule machinery installation and repairs to avoid interfering with ship’s operations.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures to shut down equipment according to OSHA requirements and company safety rules.
  • Set up and operate various pipe cutting, bending, and threading machinery.
  • Bend, cut, thread, shape, fabricate, and install pipe according to job specifications.

Requirements of the Pipefitter/Pipe Fitter

  • MUST BE ABLE TO BRAZE.
  • Successful completion of a 4 or 5 year apprenticeship that includes on-the-job and classroom instruction or a minimum of 7 years of on the job experience.
  • Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working in overhead structures and on scaffolds.
  • May be required to lift and/or carry equipment/objects greater than 50lbs.
