UHP Waterjet/Marine Painter

Essential Functions of this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Must be committed to safety and quality.
  • Must have Water Jet Operation and Maintenance experience
  • Sets up, operates, and maintains a Water Jet machine to specified tolerances and dimensions
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Supports with daily maintenance of the machine, PM’s, and replacement of normal wear & tear items. (mixing tubes, orifices, high pressure lines & fittings)
  •  Operation and maintenance experience of a Water Jet Machine required
  • Experience with a FLOW Water Jet Machine preferred, but not required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required of this position.

Successful candidates must possess Experience:

 

  • Must have three (3) or more years of experience in using high-pressure blast equipment. Experience must include working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces, working at heights, and in the use of a blaster air-fed helmet and/or soft hood air-fed respirator and a negative-pressure half-face respirator.
  • Connecting all air and electrical systems associated with blast equipment, including breathing air (CO Monitor and filter cartridges)
  • Understand the various blast standards and can produce; SP-5, SP-6, SP-7, and SP-10 cleaned surfaces to established regulatory standards
  • Has experience using various abrasives (Black Beauty, Garnet, Aluminum Oxide, and steel grit) and the equipment used for these processes
  • Has experience in blasting steel and aluminum substrates
  • Has experience on both exterior and interior surfaces of a vessel (Hull, Superstructure, Tank & Void)
  • Understand Confined Space entry requirements
  • You should own a proper blast hood and can demonstrate proper function, and the equipment is in good order.
  • Limited positions available for non-certified individuals, however, must demonstrate knowledge of the elements enumerated above
  • Ship experience a plus.

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Requires occasional heaving lifting-up to 75lbs 15-20 times during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods during an 8 to 12-hour shift.
  • Requires occasional bending from waist, crouching, kneeling and crawling periodically during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
  • Requires occasional climbing ladders up to 25 feet at a time.
  • Requires occasional working in confined space work environment with the potential of extreme temperature exposure, chemical exposure, and radiation exposure during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
  • Must be able to access all areas of shipyard and company property including shipyard and shipyard offices, dry-docks and terminals in all types of weather conditions.
