ODU's Courses in Public Procurement and Contract Management

VSRA Senior Tradesperson of the Year

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., July 22, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that an employee at its AMSEC subsidiary was selected as the Senior Tradesperson of the Year by the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA). Ship repairers are increasingly looking to balance the tables by diversifying their business lines and leveraging strong capabilities towards underserved markets. VSRA continues to advocate for increasing the industrial base through new technologies such as Off Shore Wind, but some members are finding other ways to remain a strong part of the Naval fleet over the long haul.

Minimum Wage Increased to $10.10 for Government Contractors

On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, President Obama signed an Executive Order that increases the minimum wage for employees of federal contractors from $7.25 to $10.10. The Executive Order goes into effect on January 1, 2015 and only applies to government contracts awarded after January 1, 2015.
